Nick Poelwijk won the Chopin Northwest

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce my student, Nick Poelwijk. Less then two years ago Nick came into my life, and since, his growth has been tremendous. This winter he won the senior division in the tough Chopin Northwest competition against a field of really fine teenage pianists playing the very most difficult works.

Nick was just featured in a full page, front page article in the April 5th Outlook, a newspaper from East Multnomah County of Oregon.

You can see an example of his excellent performance on the Chopin Northwest website or on youtube. The audio is not the best and by no means gives justice to the beauty and range of his dynamics. But all in all there is a lot that I consider vintage Nick. Enjoy and look for more of him in the future.
